University of Sheffield is located in the city of Sheffield, South Yorkshire and is a public research university, a member of the Russell Group of research-led universities and one of the UK’s original red brick universities. It was first established in 1897 when Sheffield medical School, Firth College and the Sheffield Technical School join forces to create the University College of Sheffield. After 10 years, it was founded on the penny donations of Sheffield factory workers who hoped a university would benefit their children, health and local economy. Up till today, we have taught 25,000 students, 3,900 international students from 120 countries with employment of approximately 6,000 staff.
